EQ with Lou

Is anything really free? I don’t think so. I think everything has a cost, be it time, money, or expectations.

I was working on a new oil piece this evening and it occurred to me that I’ve always been too “intimidated” to work with this particular medium. Given that I’m so detail oriented when it comes to my art work, it’s no wonder I prefer graphite pencils, but there’s something about the beautiful blending that happens with oils.

Historically I’ve utilized pencils & oil pastels. Only recently (like the last 6 months) have I dabbled in water color. Maybe two years ago I completed one oil piece (pictured here)

It turned out nothing like I’d imagined it would but I love it. It’s like sitting on the bank in the hot summer evening waiting for the next breeze to hit just right. However, the cost of my expectations of what the experience would be like was so much at the time.

Have you tried anything new recently? If so, did you find yourself in a similar state of having to “trust the process”? Let me know! No matter what, keep trying new things! Keep creating in whatever way it is that YOU create!
