Platforms & the “stuff” on the inside…

Are you using your platform well? It certainly looks like there is a space for almost anyone to have a platform these days- be it social media, blogging, or other means- but if I asked you whether you were using yours well, what would you say?

Maybe you’re one of those who isn’t a fan of social media. Maybe you don’t bother with it but I am suggesting that we ALL have a platform: our lives.

Platforms historically have been made to be a place for increasing visibility of things or people. Recently platforms have turned into an opportunity for opinions, information sharing, and even all out brawls. Sadly I’ve seen many airing out their frustrations into a digital world that cannot be taken back. Sure, we can hit delete but is it ever really gone?

But what about our lives? Maybe you’re a walking platform for others who are hoping to be where you are one day. Maybe you’re a source of inspiration for them. Maybe you’re a platform for your family? Whatever it is, the people in your life are watching you. They are learning from you. Some may even be watching to see what your next move is or how you’ll respond to certain adversity.

In times of adversity or crushing, our character becomes revealed. The “stuff” on the inside that so many of us try to keep tucked away and hidden becomes visible to those around us. Let’s worry less about the platform performance and more about our inside alignment.

How do you do this? Simple reflection allows us to check in with ourselves about our feelings, actions, and thoughts. We are then able to use this information to act in a way that is in alignment with who we want to be.
