Hobbies & the brain reward system…

There were a lot of years that I didn’t know what my hobbies were. There were a lot of things I put on the back burner and said I’d eventually learn, take lessons, or teach myself. Many things were far too important than enjoying life~ but the truth is that my life without hobbies was miserable.

More to come on this later, but I want to share a few of my hobbies including artwork, photography, singing, writing, birdwatching, & spending time at the beach.

Hobbies are beneficial for mental health & can reduce stress, improve mood, and reduce depression by effecting the reward system in our brain.

Why is this relevant? Mental health is directly connected to what is occurring in the world right now. As we are isolated and on lock-down because of the pandemic it is a great time to find time for hobbies! Learning new hobbies is slightly uncomfortable-but eventually the associated pleasure will kick-start our reward system and subsequently our motivation to do it again! What are your hobbies?
